I recently heard about this cool site that gives you the software to turn your blog into a book.

I'm thinking I might do this once a year. Of course, then there would be no reason to scrapbook... yikes. Whatever would I do with my million dollar investment of scrapbook supplies?? Just kidding of course. I would never give up a hobby that allowed me to spend weekends with my girlfriends drinking scraptini's.

Let me know if anyone has done the "blurb" thing yet.

drive-in

To celebrate the end of summer, Adam took all of us to the Drive-In movie theatre.

The last time I was at a Drive-In was in the early 80's. My dad took us all to see a double feature, Mr. Mom & Splash. We only got to see Mr. Mom because it was so late. I remember I was so bummed because I knew that Splash was about a mermaid and since I was 8, it seemed like if I could only see that movie then I could learn how to become a mermaid thus fulfilling my life's purpose. I ended up watching it a few years later on HBO but by then my life's purpose had changed from becoming a mermaid to chasing boys. Oh well.

Strangely enough, being at the Drive-In last Friday was exactly like being there when I was 8 (not the same theatre though). We had definitely gone back in time. Before the movie started the kids played on some play equipment in front of the screen. The play equipment reminded me of that scene in Grease when John is sitting on the swing singing. I'm pretty sure the monkey bars were older than me.

We watched Wall-e and the kids seemed to like it. I found it a little boring, but I think the new experience kept the kids interested. Is it just me or does every new animated movie have an underlying social message? Happy Feet was about global warming, Wall-e was about recycling. Not that I disagree with saving the planet, but come on. I'd like to go see a cartoon movie once without feeling guilty. I'm starting to get annoyed with all the subliminal propaganda.

I can't help but brag on Adam a bit. While we were off soaking up the sun at the beach, he was Bob Vila in our basement.

In the storage room he built a giant shelf for all our many boxes and a special golf shelf for all his golf paraphernalia. In his work room he built storage/work table for himself.

I was pretty impressed!

our last trip of the summer

I took the kids to Galveston to hang with some of our very good friends from Dallas. V has an amazing beach house that thankful made it through Edouard, although we did have to leave a day early just in case.

A big thanks to Virginia for being an awesome tour guide!!! D'Lane and I just stood back and watched as she baited the hooks, untangled the poles, got the eels off the hooks, fought to get the crabs out of the net, cooked the crabs and made perfect margaritas. We're so lucky to have you!
Oh, and back home in Dallas she's building her kids a tree house, her own design, no biggie.

Getting on the plane in Dallas the pilot stopped us to let us know that Chase Daniels' mom worked for Southwest. Evidently Wesley was wearing Chase's number on his MU jersey. Too bad she wasn't on our flight, that would have been a neat photo.

The kids found a fish on the beach, "Jake". They made a nice little home for him and played with him for hours.
