farewell

The Albright's organized a sweet little farewell party for us to bid adieu to our church group. So very sweet.

After days of rain and cold weather, the sun came out just in time for us to have a beautiful evening on a roof and celebrate!

Shari was the party pic gal! She did a great job!

baseball... kinda

Due to the timing of our move, Wesley won't be able to play baseball this season. It's a bummer, but we're trying to make up for it. Last night we went to the batting cages so he could burn off some of his baseball energy. We had a great time! Even Adam and I took a turn (of course there will never be video of that:)).

art show

Holly brought home all her art work for the whole year yesterday. I love art day! I hope to frame a lot of the kids' art as they get older, so I always love to see what gets brought home. Although I love art day, I struggle with it as well. I hate to throw away something that my lovie has spent hours working on, but on the other hand, keeping everything goes against my goal of living simple.

So... after a night to ponder my choices, I decided to have an art show at home. I hung all of Holly's work, and plan to leave it up for a while (at least until we move). I have picked out one that I plan to frame and the rest will go to loved ones or, maybe, some might just end up... well, ... lost? (I can't bring myself to say the "t" word.)

Holly did have one piece of work that was entered in the Park Hill Art Festival. Very cool.

faith in action - taking it to the streets

This past weekend, Platte Woods UMC did something amazing. No Sunday School. No regular church services. Instead, we had a whole weekend full of different service projects.

For our project, we decided to help pack meals for Haiti. What an incredible experience! The four of us worked for three hours assembling meals and packing them up on Sunday morning. In twelve hours, our little church packed over 300,000 meals for souls in Haiti. Meals that were shipped out right away and are in Haiti today. What a great feeling.

Ready to work.

Getting our marching orders.

Hard at work.

Wesley's job was to pound the meals flat for shipping once they had been sealed. What a perfect job for a little boy!

Holly was in charge of moving the meals from the filling station to the weighing station. She did great!

Just some of the rice, beans, and soy that we used.

After our hard Sunday morning of work, we met some friends for an impromptu lunch.
It was a perfect day to sit outside and enjoy the spring weather.

We had to come inside for a quick thunderstorm so we took the opportunity for some more pix.

We ended the weekend with one big worship service at the Park Hill South High school. I love the view from the high school.

Starting to fill up. Hello orange!

Singing with Daddy.

Wonderful music.

Before we left, we had to get the kids' pictures with the school mascot.

Heading home after a perfectly fantastic day.

... serve one another in love.
